My Species
I experimented on consuming content with certain taste. Taste that will define my work, life, and future. It's helpful to shape your taste by reducing your content consumption to certain limit.
This list is inspired by listening to Seth Godin, Rick Rubin, Jason Fried, Tim Ferriss, Derek Sivers, Charlie Munger, and others:
- The universe has a structure. We align with it, not against it.
- The reward of good work is more work. We give our best, release it, and let go. The right people will find it.
- Protect our most valuable asset: attention, by saying NO to almost everything. To sit, meditate, think, read and do nothing is our part of main job.
- Resist categorization. We are not just “content creator”, “musician”, “entrepreneur”, “blah blah blah”. We are more than one thing but less than a thing at the same time.
- It takes decades to build real work, but we allow no seconds for nonsense.
- Have integrity even in small things. Behave the same way even when no one is watching.
- Drawn to the timeless. Read old books, quote dead people, rediscover context.
- Willing to be misunderstood. Why we are slow, why we say no to obvious wins, why we don’t chase.
- Don’t take ourselves seriously but we take our work seriously. Seriously.
